The new-look Danish squad have clinched the final spot of the third open qualifier.
ECSTATIC, who recently underwent a major roster overhaul, have booked their place in the IEM Road to Rio Europe RMR after successfully traversing the third open qualifier, taking down HEET 2-0 in the fifth-place decider with 16-10 and 16-11 showings on Overpass and Dust2, respectively.
ECSTATIC will be pleased to have locked in their spot at the event in Malta this time round, with the upcoming fourth and final qualifier set to be a bloodbath. The No. 4 and No. 6 teams in the world ranking, Astralis and Movistar Riders, will be the biggest names in that qualifier, both fighting to clinch one of the last six RMR places up for grabs.

ECSTATIC had to make a run through the fifth-place decider bracket after suffering a 1-2 loss at the hands of Eternal Fire in the quarter-finals last night. That series was particularly rough for the Danish side, with Marcus "maNkz" Kjeldsen and company barely squeaking a win in double overtime on the opening map of Vertigo before the Turks completed the reverse sweep on Dust2 and Nuke.
ECSTATIC got off to a flying start on Overpass in the qualifying decider versus HEET, jumping out to an overpowering 8-3 T-side lead to get things underway. This lead soon began to dwindle, however, with the Frenchmen eating away at the deficit to trail by just three rounds at the swap. Despite this, the Danish quintet quickly returned to winning ways once on the defence, cruising to a 16-10 victory to go 1-0 up in the series.
The maNkz-led lineup continued to turn up the heat on their opponent's pick of Dust2, overcoming an early French T-sided lead to post a comfortable 10-5 advantage by the switch. The second half was a far more even affair, though, with both teams trading six rounds each. Regardless, the hefty deficit proved too much for HEET to overcome, and ECSTATIC eventually clinched the win with a 16-11 scoreline.
The final open qualifier for the Europe RMR will get underway on Friday, August 26. The event will offer the six remaining spots available for the Major-qualifying tournament in Malta, finalising the 32 teams who will be vying for a spot in the upcoming IEM Major Rio.
